grandma's birthday
Drove home this weekend to celebrate Grandma's birthday. Peter and Laura and the twins were able to come as well so we had a fun weekend playing with the little girls and celebrating grandma's birthday. Becka's dog isn't doing so well - she may have to put him to sleep soon because of old age - so she and Chris were unable to make it. David and I also played a little basketball and David even went running with me along the river walk! :) Had a nice relaxing weekend and I brought Jessie back with me to Creswell. She was pretty excited to be back here again but now she is asleep on my guest bed. Excitement only lasts so long in a chihuahua. Esther

not a whole lot happening
Mood:
lazy
Well, it's been a while. Let's see. Mostly I just work! Maybe hit the gym a little bit too. Thanks to my boss a lot of people at work have started calling me "fester". Yikes. It was cute when the little storytime girl did it(long story), hopefully everyone else will get tired of it soon. It was rainy and cold here so I sent my dog to live with my parents, now it is nice and sunny again so I will have to get her back this next weekend. My grandma is celebrating her birthday, man she is over 90, hard to believe but she is doing really well and so is my grandpa. My family is all coming down here for thanksgiving so I'm looking forward to cooking the big turkey dinner. I've gotten hooked on facebook recently. Don't know why but it is way more addictive than myspace. Myspace is a piece of dog poo compared, at least to my brain and the way it works. Myspace is just too cluttered. Not that facebook isn't cluttered too, it's just different. Anyway, I'm obviously rambling here and I need to go so I can go walking early with Sharon tomorrow. We walk 5 miles when we go so I need to save my energy since I'll have to work after that too. Work has been going pretty good. I have been doing more storytimes and this week I'll start visiting the elementary school again doing booktalks, storytimes, fingerplays, etc. Well, got to go but at least this is an update. esther

june
Well, I am happy to know that in about 8 months I am going to be an aunt for the third time! :) I think I am almost ready for summer although not really ready for all the homework I have hanging over me. But it's only for 2 1/2 more months and then I am done! David and I went to Safeco field this last week, I took a wednesday off and we went up and back in a day. A little crazy but it was a little crazy and it was a fun game, even if the Mariners lost by quite a bit. I got to experience my first outdoor/indoor stadium and they put the roof on while we were there which was pretty cool. It was also great to be able to see the Seattle skyline and the highways all while we were watching the game. I think the deejay's prescription was a little high, he would only play clips for 15 seconds before they were over, it kind of gets annoying when that happens every single time! Esther

Summer Update
Well, it's almost summer and I've almost been at my job now for six months! Hard to believe. My little brother just graduated from highschool which is terrific! I've been working hard for work and I've been enjoying the super warm weather (hey, I'm used to Astoria!) here, it's hard to imagine how much warmer it will be in July and August. I've been trying to keep up with my gardens, they still need some weeding and some more plants but my corn and broccoli are coming up really nicely and I've been enjoying the fresh peas from my garden. Next week I'm going to a Seattle mariners game with my little bro. Should be fun! I also have to start school again real soon for my very last semester. Can't wait to be done with all that! I was awarded some terrific books through a grant for the library so I've been enjoying all of those... Esther

Not too much going on
Well, my family is coming to visit in two weeks so this weekend I did some cleaning to get ready and I've been making a list of all the stuff around the house that needs to be fixed up... I've also been working on my garden a bit. There have been some rain showers but most of the time it has been warm and sunny here, I love it! :) I'm finishing up my 2nd class and starting my 3rd one next weekend. The last of my classes, wahoo! :) Esther

one down, 2 to go
So I am back in class agan, finishing up my second of three classes. The good news is, once these classes are done, only my practicum and capstone are left. For EVERYTHING! Wa-hoo! I just finished presenting a toolkit in class (no, not with metal tools, a word document package) and now I have an hour and a half until I am done for the day. It's been raining a lot around here lately which is good for my plants except that the weeds are growing too and all the barkdust I put down doesn't look quite as nice as when I first added it but that's okay. It's always good to add to the soil or "amend" it with things like barkdust and fertilizer and stuff. This way it is doing it slowly but automatically. :) I finally got all my curtains up in my house and I've started on my painting projects... well, I started by painting my closet but it is only halfway done now. Work is still going terrific, enjoying it very much, just want to get through with all these homework assignments so I can relax and enjoy life a little bit. My TV is starting to die so I'm trying to decide what to do about that... Later, esther

On the Road Again
Okay, so you have to hear Donkey from Shrek singing "On the Road Again" to get my title. :) I'm back at school again, trying to finish up my first class of my last 3. Wa-hoo. I got my tax refund today, suh-weet! This weekend after class I'm also going home to see my parents, hug my dog, harrass my brother, etc. This last week I had one beautiful day during which I put down bark dust everywhere and started working on my garden. I moved an oak tree out of my flower bed and into a corner of the yard and put down bark dust so I don't have to walk in my to get to my car. Little things but my little rental house is feeling more like home all the time. :) This week and last week have been very busy, I had 31 people (adults and kids) show up for a storytime where a guy from New Zealand came and presented for us.. It was really great, the past times had only been five or six kids each time. This week I had my preschool storytime decorate valentine cookies with frosting. Lots of work but the kids loved it, there was perfect silence for about five minutes while all 12 of them were munching on their cookies (27 with parents and babies) it was a little scary! So work is going well and after this weekend and the dreaded presentation, hopefully school will be going well too. :) I can't wait until I can get outside again and garden some more. It's been raining about a week but that is good, where I live now seems pretty dry most of the time. Both my co-workers gave me something for Valentine's day, I wasn't quite as generous, I'll have to do something next year i guess. -Esther

After Birthday
Well, I'm back at school again! :) Started my second class of the semester. I've enjoyed my birthday and everything very much. I've gotten some rosebushes planted out in my yard and I got a new mixer and vacuum cleaner for my birthday. Claire seems to be getting used to me, she didn't cry this weekend everytime she saw me! (That happened last weekend.) :) esther

Finally back in the new year
I have finally unpacked and I'm settling into my new place. I love having my own little house! I also love my new job so far. :) I'm back at class again too and starting the last three classes in my degree. We had snow down in Creswell and it has been pretty cold in most of Oregon with snow just about everywhere. :) I really like only driving half a mile in snow and ice! :) My little nieces are getting really big, Julia is starting to crawl and Claire is going through a shy phase so she cries whenever she sees me! Or maybe that was just because I was wearing my glasses. I got a chance to go to the Egyptology exhibit at the Portland Art Museum this weekend. That was fun but I could have spent all day there instead of just my one hour lunch break! -EstherStill unpacking in my new house (see below)
